Background:
White Wing Cleaning was established in 1989 by Diana Donlon Beckler. After
graduating from college with a degree in Interior Design, Diana wanted
to move back to her hometown of New Smyrna Beach. Since there were no
job in the area in her field, Diana started cleaning condos to "make
ends meet."
After seeing the stress and headaches many of the maids caused the managers,
she decided there could be a helpful and profitable business in handling
the cleaning personnel for the condo managers so they could concentrating
on renting units and tending to the needs of their renters and owners.
Spending weeks creating a computer management program and recruiting
cleaners and clients, Diana realized that she would need a name for her
business. Her college thesaurus revealed that white-wing was an old synonym
for immaculate. Thinking this name would also conjure up visions of birds
flying over the beach and condominiums, Diana dubbed her newly-formed
company "White Wing Cleaning."
Through the years, White Wing has worked with almost all of the condominium
complexes up and down the beach, and has contracts with many, including
Ponce de Leon Towers, Granstrom Real Estate, Errol By The Sea, Shore Villas,
Raymaley Real Estate in Sugar Mill, Forest Glen Townhomes in Daytona,
Sandpiper Condominium, White Surf Condominium in Daytona Beach Shores,
and over 500 private homes and offices.
In the past fifteen years, the White Wing family has grown to include
a complete office staff, 4 rotating Supervisors, Head Supervisor, and
25-50 uniformed cleaners, who bring a higher level of professionalism
to the industry.
Diana's sister, Stace, joined her in business along the way, and after
they outgrew several offices, they moved to the space above Little Drug
Company on Canal Street in New Smyrna in 2001. "We love being in
this location," Diana and Stace say. "It's fun to look into
the fountain at the drugstore as we go up the stairs to our offices and
see the familiar faces and think about when we were little and walked
over for ice cream at Little's from the "Burger Chef" (at the
corner of Canal Street and US 1) which our father owned."
White Wing Cleaning would like to take several more condominiums under
their wing, not only to keep the company growing, but to enable the condo
manager to have more time to obtain rentals and introduce more visitors
to our wonderful city!
